Most players go into a fresh season saying they'll keep things simple. One character, one build, no distractions. That plan doesn't last long in Season 12. The balance shift is too big, and the Paladin has changed the whole conversation. Since the Lord of Hatred expansion dropped, it's been hard to ignore just how far ahead it feels. Wing Strikes is the build people keep coming back to, and honestly, it makes sense. The movement never really stops, packs melt on contact, and once your Attack Speed and Cooldown Reduction are in place, the rhythm feels easy to maintain. Strong picks without the expansion

If you haven't bought the expansion, you're not locked out of having a great season. Spiritborn is still one of the most reliable choices around, especially with Quill Volley. It clears wide, moves fast, and just feels good in long farming sessions. That matters more than people admit. A build can be strong on paper and still feel awful after two hours. Quill Volley doesn't have that problem. Then there's Affliction Necromancer, which might be the easiest start in the game right now. Leveling is smooth, curses do the heavy lifting, and you don't hit that awkward middle stretch where everything suddenly slows down. By the time you reach 60, you're already set up to move into Bone Spear or a minion setup without rebuilding from scratch.

Classes that need more from your gear

Sorcerer and Rogue can still pop off, but they ask for more patience. Chain Lightning Sorcerer is a perfect example. When the Crackling Energy setup is there, it flies. When it isn't, the build feels rough, almost like it's fighting you the whole time. Rogue has a similar issue with Dance of Knives. It's quick, flashy, and safe when the Momentum engine is rolling, but getting to that point can take a while. That's why some players burn out before their build ever feels finished. It's not about the class being bad. It's about the gap between average gear and the gear that actually makes the build click.

What's struggling this season

Barbarian players have every right to be annoyed. Solo performance just isn't in a good place unless you lean into a basic attack setup, and for a lot of people that doesn't even feel like Barbarian anymore. Druid isn't quite that low, but it can be frustrating in a different way. Fleshrender has power, sure, though the timing window is tighter than many players want during high-pressure runs. You can make it work, but it asks for more effort than other classes at the same reward level. That's a hard sell in a season built around speed and efficiency.

Smarter farming matters more than ever

A lot of players focus only on class rankings and miss the bigger detail. Bloodstained Sigils can make or break your runs depending on how well their density and enemy mods match your build. A strong AoE setup wants different dungeon conditions than a boss-focused one, and that choice adds up over dozens of runs. So yes, Paladin is the easiest road to late-game power right now, but smart routing still matters. And if you're trying to skip some of the worst RNG and get your build online sooner, plenty of players look at U4GM for gear and currency support because it can save a lot of wasted time in a season that clearly rewards momentum.
